Mineral Wool (Loft Roll)
Mineral wool (glass or rock wool) loft roll is the most common loft insulation in the UK. It is laid between the ceiling joists and then across them to build up the depth; the Energy Saving Trust gives 270mm as the recommended minimum for mineral wool. It is usually the cheapest and lowest-risk way to insulate an unused loft, provided the loft is dry and the ventilation is not blocked.
